Gary Vaynerchuk is a world-famous entrepreneur and a keynote speaker for BRAND MINDS 2020.
We are thrilled to have him on stage at our business conference in Bucharest, so here’s what you should know about him.
As of 2019, Gary Vaynerchuk is worth an estimated $160 million
Gary Vaynerchuk is a successful serial entrepreneur, investor, best-selling author, social media mogul and a gifted speaker.
He was born in Belarus and immigrated with his family to the US when he was 3 years old.
At age 7 he operated a lemonade franchise then made money by selling baseball cards and toys while in high school.
He joined his family’s liquor business when he was 14 and grew it from $3 million to $60 million in sales in 2003. It took him five years to achieve that.
How did he do it?
In 1996, he recognized the true power of the internet and turned his father’s business into one of the first e-commerce platforms in the US and renamed it WineLibrary.com. He built it with email marketing, Google Adwords and banner advertising, tools that the marketing industry did not believe in yet.
Attention is the asset and the internet owns it.
After jumping on the internet bandwagon early on, he made a second leap which skyrocketed his father’s wine business and put him on the right path to achieving business success: YouTube. He started his channel, Wine Library TV four months after the video-sharing platform launched in 2005.
Going on YouTube was Gary’s second most-inspired business move.
Gary Vaynerchuk has built a media empire
Recognizing where people’s attention is going is Gary’s strongest suit and the main factor of his success as an entrepreneur.
He is one of the most influential businessmen in the global business world but he says his businesses don’t depend on his reputation as an influencer.
I am so business talented that being GaryVee is my side hustle. I do not need to make money by being an influencer, whether that is selling people courses or T-shirts, or using it as a way to get speaking fees, or to get clients for VaynerMedia. I need none of it. If I were completely not an influencer, VaynerMedia would still be a $100 million company, just like Wine Library was built into a massive company by a 20-year-old with zero influence.

Stop complaining. Figure out who you are. Triple down at what you’re good at. Don’t imitate others. Figure out what puts you on fire. If you’re good at what you like, become tunnel vision. There are way too many voices telling you what you should do and how you should do it. Don’t listen to them. Have the conversation with the person who’s holding you back. Stop worrying about the opinion of others, may they be your friends, your spouse or your colleagues.
